But what I really wondered was

wasn't there something somewhere that I was missing when I wasn't looking.

It was supper time.

At supper time you can leave those great tragic questions for another time and eat. It's even recommended by experts (three out of four, no lie!). While you enjoy your meal, someone somewhere is asking 'are you hungry?'
